Upgraded to Vista - Sage keeps crashing - FIXED
I just upgrade to Vista 32-bit from XP and now I can't get Sage to launch... when I run it in Service mode, SageTV.exe hangs at the splash screen with the message, "SageTV Service is initializing..." and the SageTV Service crashes. When I run it in single mode (no service running), SageTV.exe will start to load but then crashes before it gets past the splash screen. I have many many many hs_err_pidnnnn.log files (from SageTV Service restarting and crashing) which contain EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Java Runtime messages (Problematic Frame: C [Indiv01.key+0x110670]). I couldn't see anything obvious in the Sage log files (but I'm no expert at interpreting them). See attached files for details.
My setup: Vista 32-bit Sage 6.5.9 Hauppauge HVR-1600 Hauppuage PVR-350 HDHR for digital QAM (Comcast) HD200 Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H mobo (Nvidia 9400 IGP) Intel E8400 4 GB RAM Samsung 250GB; Samsung 500GB; WD 1TB Green drives I've uninstalled and re-installed Sage. I've re-installed Java. I've uninstalled Java and Sage, then re-installed Sage so it loads the Java that is packaged with Sage. I've re-installed the HDHR drivers. I've re-installed the Hauppauge drivers. Vista UAC is disabled. I enabled AHCI for the SATA drives (required in order to use 4 SATA ports on this mobo - 3 SATA HDD plus 1 SATA Blu-ray) Any suggestions? sagetv_1 with service.txt hs_err_pid4316 with service.log.txt sagetv_0 no service.txt hs_err_pid5588 no service.log.txt Last edited by hendercc; 02-08-2009 at 11:09 PM. |

Had this too
Bad news.
Microsoft says to reload.. They said it key is detecting a hardware change like processor or motherboard and cannot use the key to encode the files. meaning other programs will have this issue as well. Googled for 2 weeks and finally called MSFT and said screw it and reloaded yup everything worked . Hope you have more luck than me |

Bit the Bullet and did a fresh install - everything ok now
Thanks necron99... your reply confirmed that I couldn't avoid the inevitable. I did a fresh install of Vista, new drivers, Sage, etc. and everything is working fine now.
In my desire to save time re-installing all the applications that I had accumulated on my XP install (and find old license keys), my first attempt was an "upgrade" from XP to Vista rather than starting from scratch. I spent more time dealing with problems than it would have taken to start from scratch and reinstall everything... frustrating and painful lesson learned! |
