Tuning Plugins don't show
I'm trying out SageTV with an HD-PVR. Unfortunately I can't configure an IR blaster, only 'DirecTV Serial Control' shows up. I have a USB UIRT and the Hauppauge blaster (Hauppauge blaster software is installed, but not the remote software). The haup. blaster and the USB UIRT work with other programs, so I'm not sure why they don't show up as options in Sage. I'm running Vista 32 if that makes any difference.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. |

I also have an HD-PVR and I didn't configure the Blaster through SageTV. I configured it through the Hauppauge IR Blaster software and it works flawlessly.

But how did you tell SageTV to use the Hauppauge IR Blaster to change the channel? I configured it outside SageTV, using the blastercfg program, and it works. But I had to tell SageTV to not use a channel changer since the only other option was the DirecTV serial interface...

After some more attempts I still don't have things working.
I copied the channel changer dll's from the SageTV\Common directory to the SageTV\SageTV directory and then they show up in the setup wizard. Unfortunately they don't seem to work, and with the USB-UIRT plugin, I do see the UIRT's LED flash, but then I get a NO SIGNAL from Sage and sometimes an error. I never saw this when I had no channel changer configured, but then I have to change channels with the satellite remote control Also, the first time after enabling the SageTV Service, all of the changer plugins show up from the SageTV\Common directory, but after a computer restart they disappear again. I restarted because as soon as I actually configure a tuner then I get errors and NO SIGNAL when I try to watch TV through the HDPVR (again it works fine with no changer configured) Is this some weird Vista Security problem? Anyone have any ideas? |

Just an update, I reinstalled SageTV (with the Run as Administrator option), and then have to go into the SageTV.exe properties and check off Run as Administrator. Doing this allows the channel changer plugins to show up. I eventually resorted to using the EXEMultiTuner plugin and sending network events to Eventghost (by running eventghost.exe -n xxxx) commands, and letting Eventghost control my USB-UIRT since Sage seems to want exclusive control of the USB-UIRT if I use its plugin directly.
The downfall of running SageTV as an Administrator is that programs running sendmessage not as an administrator don't seem to find SageTV. I had to create an python program that runs as an Administrator, receives network commands from Eventghost (running normally), and then does a sendmessage to SageTV to send it the right command. Shouldn't things be easier! Any comments on how to avoid running SageTV as an Administrator on Vista (I have UAC on) would be appreciated. Would disabling UAC help - I'm just worried that will mess other things up (eg programs installed when UAC was enabled?) |
