Disable 1 tuner for a certain station

I have one of my 4 tuners that will not pick up a certain station. For some reason every time I go to that station it wants to use the one tuner that will not pick it up. Can I disable that station just for that one tuner?

Chad

You can copy your lineup to that tuner and disable separately. Otherwise, you could also change the priority of the tuner and make it low enough so it would be less likely to be selected.

How do I change the priority? Currently it is tuner 4, but it seems to be used all the time. Chad

Its in the sage.properties file encoder_merit. The bigger the number the more often it will be used.

I would fix the problem myself, try changing your cables, look at the db drop of your splitters and whatnot.

I am having the same problem. On one tuner a single channel is very blocky and unwatchable. I have determined that the problem is with the tuner and not a cable (I have swapped cables with another digital tuner that is working fine and the problem stays with the tuner).

Anyway, how exactly do you "copy your lineup to that tuner and disable separately"?

Delete the source and then readd it. When it comes to picking the EPG, there is an option to use the same lineup but choose different channels.

There is no need to first delete the source. Simply go to Source Details, select the EPG item to change it, then choose to copy an existing lineup.

Good to know, never tried it that way. I just always delete my sourses and start over. Thanks Andy!

Please forgive my apparent density, but I can't find the option to "copy a lineup." Is this new to 6.5?

I can get to the "Source Details" screen. When I select "EPG Lineup:...", I get 4 choices:
"Use US, Canada...",
"Use tvtv...",
"Do Not Use Program Data...",
"Use an Existing Channel Lineup...".

If I select "Use an Existing Lineup...", my choices do not include an option to make a copy. My choices are:
"Cancel",
"Undefined Source Name", and
"Champaign..."(my current lineup)

Where should I be finding the option to make a copy?

SageTV 6.4.8

Version 6.4 has a way to copy a lineup after choosing a provider, but yes, the method I mentioned is new to v6.5.

Thanks. I guess I'll play with 6.5 tonight.

UPS just showed up with my HD200. Should I change to 6.5 first, or add the HD200 first? Any reason I should play with the HD200 on 6.4 first so I can note any differences when I upgrade to 6.5?

Andy, FWIW, what is the method to copy a lineup after choosing in 6.4?

I would install v6.5 first.

Just choose your provider & lineup. If it is already in use by another tuner w/a different type of connection, it will ask if you want to copy it. You can set this property in sage.properties to force it to ask:

epg/force_ask_to_copy_lineup=true

I think this is the source (pun intended) of the confusion for many of us. We keep seeing references to being able to make copies of lineups, but what you are saying is that you can copy a lineup, but the only time the option to make a copy is presented to the user is if you are using a different TYPE of connection. There are many of us that want to make multiple copies of the same lineup for the same type: OTA so we can dedicate specific tuner/antenna combos to specific hard to tune channels.

As it is, I can only make one alternate lineup by using the digital ota lineup as my main lineup in which I deactivate the most problematic channel and assign all but one tuner to that lineup. I then use the combined ota (digital and analog lineup) for the problem channel and deactivate all but that channel and assign one tuner to that lineup. I have another channel that is occasionally problematic and it would be nice to be able to set up a third lineup that is dedicated to a single tuner/antenna combo.

I only posted the v6.4 property info because you asked for it. The confusion about copying a lineup is why v6.5 has been changed to not use the property I listed above and to also offer to copy the lineup when re-using a lineup on the initial guide info options menu.

Please see the v6.5 changes listed in chapter 8 of the PDF manual; this is one of the changes listed.

Mea Culpa

Andy,

I apologize. I had downloaded the 6.5 manual to my fileserver the day 6.5.9 was announced. Since Acrobat sometimes chokes when viewing that big a file from the server, I copied it to my laptop for viewing. It appears that when I made the copy to my laptop, I copied the 6.4 version. Ironically, I changed the filenames on my laptop to 6.4 and 6.5 so I wouldn't get them mixed up, but left them alone on the server.

That explains why I couldn't find any differences in the lineup handling. I even ignored the 6.4 in the page headers assuming it was an oversight in the update of the new manual rather than my being a dolt.

Perhaps a gentle hint back to Frey that they might consider putting the version in the filename on their end so us dolts don't screw things up...
