Sage Client license question
Hey guys -
I've got something strange going on but I think I know the cause... My wife's laptop have sageTV client installed on it. I'm certain that I've got the right license on there and that license is not being used anywhere else. Tonight, I plugged her laptop in to the wired ethernet. Sage client wouldn't start, complaining that the license was already in use. The only thing I can figure is that she was using sage client through her wireless interface earlier. So now I'm thinking that Sage server is locking the license to a MAC address, so once she uses sage via wireless she can't switch over and use it on wired without restarting sage server. Is this accurate? Is there any possible solutions for this? Any way, perhaps to install 2 licenses on that laptop (I've got more client licenses than I use right now). Thanks! |

I have SageTV Client on my laptop and frequently switch back and forth between wired and wireless without licensing issues. You must have something else going on there.

The SageTV license is based on the OPC, not the MAC address. I've also switched between wired/wireless without issue. There is also no way to see what license is being used on which machine. First reboot your server to make sure it wasn't causght between removing Sage from one PC and installing with the same key on another. If a reboot doesn't fix it you'll need to startup the Sage client with the REGISTER switch and enter the correct key on the laptop. A server reboot may also be required after the install. Search the forums-I think there is a sticky on it.

lol, you guys are right. My bad -- turns out I accidentally used the same key on my laptop as my wife's. Now I have to figure out which key I have that isn't in use (I do own one for each computer) and reregister my laptop with it...
