Splitting a Sage license
Sorry if this is obvious but I haven't been able to find the answer with a modest amount of searching.
The question is: can I split an existing SageTV license so that I am running just the Sage Service on a headless server with no UI/Client application and move my existing UI/Client to another computer or do I still need a separate Sage Client license? If so, how would I go about splittng an existing license between these two computers? I would still be running just one complete instance of SageTV and would not need the UI/Client to be installed on the server at all. I am building a new quiet Client and want the tuners and storage to be where I can't see or hear them! |

If you want to run a server + a client, you will have to have a server license + a client license.
The server license isn't any sort of 'dual' license that can be split -- it is a license to run SageTV server on a single system, and the 'server' means the recording & UI portions together. - Andy

Thanks for the reply, Andy. Not sure I follow the reasoning for it but that's the way it is!
