How do you install the Linux Placeshifter license key?

Maybe I'm totally dense, but I can't figure out how to install the license key in the Linux version of Placeshifter. The manual address Windows and Mac, but not Linux. Searching the archive has one post that says that the license key isn't required, but will be for a future release. I must have the future release, because it starts out saying it's a trial version and the word "TRIAL" appears in the video screen.

I am on the latest beta and have not had to put my keys in. I'd contact support.

maybe i'm not reading your post correctly, but the key goes on the server, not on the placeshifting computer.

Is that what you were trying?

You need key only for the server. You do not need key for placeshifter on Linux.

Yea, I finally figured that out after reading over the manual about a dozen times. I guess I am dense. It's just kind of unusual that the lcense key goes on the server, not the application you're installing. Another thing that threw me off was the fact that the server needed to restart after the key was installed. That didn't happen automatically.

By the way, Vista won't let me run SageTVServiceControl. It says I need to to be the system administrator. I'm not sure how to do that (yet). Vista is wonderful ... not.

It might work to disable UAC but I haven't been brave enought yet to put my servers on Vista yet.

I thought of that, but I don't like to dink around with default settings unless I absolutely have to. Linux sure is nice in this regard -- just su to root or sudo. Why couldn't MS do it like that?

Ahh, I read your post to say that you had a linux server and you were looking to put the key in. Glad you got it sorted out.
