I just got a new Insignia NS-LCD42HD-09 1080p LCD and received my HDMI cables from Monoprice yesterday. I get no artifacts in any resolution but 1080p works great until I try to play a video. As soon as the video begins playing the screen goes black. 1080i and 720p work fine. I currently have it set to 1080i just so it works. Any ideas?

Old thread I know, I have just now gotten a 1080p display device. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

With the HD100 it's a hardware problem. There are some circuit paths that have to be cut for the HDMI port on it to do 1080p

What circuit paths would those be? Does cutting the paths disable the other resolutions?

I'd have to look up the email they sent me. Basically they are circuit traces that connect the HDMI port to what looks like a non-existent DVI port. I believe what is going on is there is probably some kind of signal reflection or something weird going on with the added circuits connected that only tends to affect 1080p.

And no, it won't affect other resolutions. It just gives the HD100 the ability to do 1080p without issues.

You can send in your HD100 and have them do it for you. I did it myself mainly because I didn't want to have to wait and because I have the know-how. After I'd cut the circuit traces leading to the non-existent port 1080p over HDMI began working great for me.

If you could find the email, I would greatly appreciate it. As my username sort of implies, my career is repairing electronics. With some guidance on which circuits to change, I would not have a problem doing the work myself. It would be kind of fun to perform this mod it sounds like.

Ok, I'll PM you the instructions. I don't know that they want this info to be completely public due to liability. I certainly don't want to be responsible for someone who shouldn't be doing this bricking their HD100.

I got a really nice DVI to HDMI cable (15') from Newegg for $9.99. It runs $13.99 now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812189130

As far as I know, there are pictures included in the instructions. Just contact SageTV tech support & they will probably send it to you.

LOL ... how funny ... I'm the guy who started the thread and I haven't checked back in ages and lo and behold I get this email in my inbox with a response. I've been running on 1080i for ages and would LOVE to get this fixed ... hehehehehe I even at the start sent my HD100 back and had Sage check it out and they could not reproduce it. This is a GOOD GOOD day ...

I'll contact SageTV support ASAP
