1080p xvid movie stuttering

Ok, so I have a HD video that was captured in 1080p resolution and converted to xvid format. It plays great on all my PC's except my Sage PC. This is the first true 1080p resolution file I have attempted to play. The autio is fine, but the video either gets blocky or it stutters every 10 seconds. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

I have the latest xvid codec installed and also Purevideo. My Sage server is an athlon 64 3200+, that should be fast enough, shouldn't it?!?

Thanks for any insight.

Just tried it, no change, acts the same.

More troubleshooting steps taken:

Turned FSE on, same behavior. Turned back off, of course still same behavior.
Made sure xvid was newest, was.
Uninstalled xvid and installed newest DivX, acted same.
Last resort, switched from VMR9 to Overlay, problem fixed!

However, other problems cropped up when switching to Overlay.
1.) Menus on video are no longer transparent
2.) Aspect ratio settings don't seem to work. Watching live TV with an SD signal I have large black bars on side of screen instead of it filling entire HDTV surface like it does with VMR9. However, HDTV imported video does use etire screen

I checked aspect ratio settings when in overlay and everything seemed fine. I can live with the non-transparent windows if I can get the screen to actually fill.

Switching back to VMR of course makes the menus transparent again and fixes aspect ratio problems, but of course the imported HDTV video is skipping again. So as of right now, if I want to watch a 1080p import I have to switch to overlay while watching.

If someone has hints as to make this work I'd be indebted forever. Do you think a Dual Core CPU will help at all? I want to upgrade a file server here and could easily give it my sage server's athlon 64 3200+ and get a dual core for sage.

Thanks for any input!
Jim
