HDHomeRun help needed
Hi.
I recently purchased a hdhomerun to tune my qam hd channels that I get fine on my tv. I followed the setup guide found at http://www.silicondust.com/wiki/hdho...s/sagetv_cable and am able to watch the channels through VLC, but when I go into Sagetv the the physical channels remapped I get an error message saying that no tuners can tune it even though I have them enable through Sage. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ian. |

HD HR Fix (maybe)
Make sure that the HD HR manager is running on your task bar. There should be a short cut in the start up folder. That is the interface between Sage TV and HD HR.
Just for fun, click on one or the other tuner, and then click the status tab. That should show you what Sage is doing.

The HDHR Manager is running in my task bar. I just did a little testing and removed the HDHR from my sage tuner list and added it back in with just one station and tried to tune it within Sage with no luck (getting no encoders can tune the selected station). I didn't notice the word encoder before. So now I need to play with my encoders. I am using the Nvidia purevideo platinum for my video encoding and ac3 for my audio. any thoughts?

No, I am using the Basic for my NVidia DualTV and the Digital for my HDHR. I know they are acting separate because I started with the DualTV lineup then added the HDHR lineup with just one channel that isn't on the DualTV lineup.

The HDHR Manager needs to run before Sage...then give it a minute or two to connect. Can the GUI tune to a channel with VLC? If a no go on all fronts, wipe the tuner data and start over.

Are you running this on a MCE box? IF so make sure that MCE is not active anywhere.

HDHR a bit fussy
I've found that the HDHomerun is a bit fussy at times. First, I make sure that the HDHomeRun manager is running. Then I make sure that the SageTV client or service is not running. If the service is running stop it (you can keep the window open). If your computer has been reboot, I found it helps to run the HDHR setup program and do a scan of the HDHR. Then I run the config program and make sure it is set at QAM or ATSC and select a channel that is unencryped. Then I run VLC to insure that I can see the streaming video. I then leave the VLC and config programs (leaving the manager running) and then restart the SAGE service or client. It usually works now, although I have had to do this procedure more than once. I think the HDHR interface with SAGE still needs some work.

OK, thank you all for your help. I got home from work tonight, shut down the sagetv service and the hdhr manager. Reopened the hdhr manager THEN restarted the sagetv service and now it is working fine. I am going to have to figure out how the set the sagetv service as a dependent of the hdhr manager to make sure it loads after the hdhr manager.
Now I just need to setup my HD channels! WOO HOO! |

I don't know if it's universal, but I didn't have to do anything special...the HDHR app in the startup folder always starts before the Sage service...for me.

Do you have a fast boot enabled? Has anyone tried running HD Homerun Manager as a service using srvany or FireDaemon?

Playing back HD on my laptop or my HTPC is fine. Playing back on my PC media MVPs just shows a blank screen but I hear audio. My sage server is quite capable to transcode HD (e6600, 2 gig ram, dedicated sage server). Not sure what the issue is yet. I'll play with some stuff when I have a chance, but if anyone wants to post any tips to help, i'd appreciate it. |

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27383 I guess I should find a HVR-1600 recording and try to play with MVP. Submitted to support. Sage 6.2.10 Latest HDHR beta drivers (20070916beta1) With the horsepower we both have, how much of a difference does "dedicated sage server" make? I use mine to show HDTV as well. |

I know this worked for me in the past so I'm thinking I've got a minor setup bug I need to work out. If I can't get it figured out soon, then I'll submit to support, but i'm hopeful it won't get that far. |

I had this same problem with the Intel X3000. The way I got it to work is switch to VMR9 and FSE, (the latter was needed because I was getting stuttering). I haven't had much luck with VMR9 and FSE in the past, but it seems to be working well now. I haven't had time to really see if it's stable, or to try and figure out why overlay (without FSE) wouldn't work. Before switching to VMR9, I could tune at least one HD feed, but the others gave me the blank screen with audio. I didn't have time to see if it was something to do with 720p vs 1080i, but I know the problem feed was 1080i.

New recorded stuff is working so I'm considering it (for now) to be a non-issue. BTW - K-ville does playback fine on my Media PC. It just doesn't playback (black screen only) on my MVPs. And to be honest, that really is a non-issue for me. I record important stuff in HD & SD. If I'm gonna watch HD, I'd prefer to watch it in my media room on my Media PC. I can still watch the SD stuff through the MVP. |
