Can't import network drives
Since doing a fresh install of the latest Sage I can't select mapped network drives for media import directories and the "network" option doesn't take \\servername\share format. How do I access my imported media on other Windows computers?

Are you running in service mode? I had this very same problem running in service mode. The way it was corrected for me was to change the service account to be the same as what I was using as the login instead of the default service account.

I have the service logging in as the current user and can browse the network folder via other areas in Sage but it's still not available in media import folders setup. I even went so far as to manually add the folders directly into sage.properties and the folders are listed now but the contents don't show up in my imported media.

Services can't use mapped drive letters. If you've added UNC paths. but they aren't used, make sure the user that the service is logging in as has full permission to read/write for those paths.

I have the same problem when I run sagetvservicecontrol.exe
BUT If I do not run it but run sagetv.exe everything works fine. I specified path and here is what it looks like in properties: seeker/archive_directory=\\\\AMD2700\\Media\\Video,1;\\\\AMD2700\\Media\\Music,2;\\\\AMD2700\\Media\\Pictures,4; When I went to select path for directories I clicked on network then workgroup, then selection of computers on workgroup (amd2700) then picked hard drive media then folder video or music or pictures then click on current. I tried pickicking with and without sagetvservicecontrol.exe running no problem. BUT playing would not work with sagetvservicecontrol.exe running. Only will play if it is not. I never setup users so my admin is the same as my user name. Ray |

As I said above and Stanger89 replied in your thread, you'll need to configure the service to log in as a user w/a password with read/write permissions for those UNC paths.
See chapter 2 of the SageTV PDF manual, p. 15 for v6.1. - Andy

OK
I did all that. Sagetvservicecontrol is running from new user:sagetv (not default) Same problem. Should I disconnect mapped drives? Ray |

I have the Sage service logging in as the same user I am logged in as and manually added the UNC paths to the sage.properties file (it doesn't work if I try to add them using the setup interface) and I can access them fine now.

Finally got mine working, Thank you everyone.
1. had to make new user 2. map network drives in BOTH admin/default AND new user (I called sagetv) 3. launch sagetvservicecontrol.exr and select user name user and password startup 4. was able to select directories going up several dir to root then select network/workgroup/computer id/drive/directory can view dvd (on network drive) on mediamvp now. Make sure you can see files mapped drives in EACH user. Thanks, Ray |

You don't need to map them, you just need to make sure the user you set the Sage service to login as has access to the shares.

Sharing is done on the newtwork drive's system.
It seemed to make a difference if mapped but I think I have a hardware problem because the shared drive disappears after some time. I would rather not map. Thanks, Ray |

So to use network folders/drives for imported media.
the solution comes down to: when customer runs SageTV Service Control he must "Change User" to a user (current or otherwise) with a user with password IE: Run Service As User: .\xxxxxx NOT: LocalSystem(Default) That is simple enough! Thanks, Ray |
