Unsafe.park - spinning circles
WAF being affected by spinning circles/hangs when trying to set manual recordings and/or adjusting padding.
Hope someone has some suggestions. SageTV 64 bit on SSD, recordings directory is locally on HDD then get moved to NAS daily. sagetv log file attached |

I’ve been getting lots of spinning circles and hang-ups when changing channels lately. I have to cntl-alt-delete to be able to quit Sage and restart again.

What is your heap size set to and what does "system information" show as in use/available?

Also check once you start getting those circles. Same question for the graywolf.

Currently reads: (used/total/max) 1136mb/1419mb/5369mb
I'll see about getting the numbers when she is getting the long spinning circles/lag if it makes any difference, using the Sage3 UI on a HD300 |

That’s impossible for me, as soon as spinning starts, Sage locks up. Luckily recordings in progress aren’t effected

I have noticed the spinning circles appear at the following times:
I also have V9 on a Windows 7 system. I get the same symptoms when using a HD300 or mini-client on a ShieldTV. I am also seeing lots of activity in the log file. (Multiple log files in a single day.) Attached. There is also a log file being created every day in the jetty directory, I have checked the following hardware: CPU, Hard drive, and Cables with no errors found.

Many times when issues like this occur it is due to a problem in the local network. Try resetting switches and routers. Try swapping network cables. Try temporarily simplifying the network to minimize what could be interfering. The first time this occurred to me was from a bad switch that would work for a couple days after a reset before the issue would return.
The other time I had this issue was when Sage was performing media scans and the delay was from Sage waiting for a sleeping network drive to spin-up. |

I did not put back the old router, but I have changed the network cables from the SageTV server to the switch. I will experiment with a simpler network setup in a few days.

This just shows why you don't want to use port forwarding on your router. It's well worth the time and effort to set up a VPN connection if you need to access your network from an external location. PS - I will say that the most common reason I have seen spinning circles in the past are harddrive issues. It occurs when a drive is starting to fail and/or has bad sectors on it. But when this happens, I see the spinning circle whenever I navigate menus with a "corrupted" show, or try to delete or play a corrupted show. I realize this isn't the same symptoms as what others are describing here however.

Background:
SageTV 64bit on Win7 - Recording directory is hdd on pc, SageTV installation is on ssd HD300 used for viewing Recordings moved to nas each morning Moving up/down the list of recordings and when modifying padding for manual recordings sometimes has long spinning circles It was mentioned that sometimes spinning circles is drive going bad or switch. My thinking (don’t know) would be that it would only be the ssd ot memory for those actions. Maybe the switch between the hd300 and the SageTV pc and the nas wouldn’t be involved for those tasks Would that be correct? Help eliminate some components from troubleshooting Would the wiz.bin size be a factor? |
