Spinning wait circles on Music only
Hello everyone,
I have searched and tried the suggestions dealing with wait circles and Java memory heap. I am seeing numbers well below the 512 max I have set on both the first and second numbers. The setup is a Vista 32 bit client and WHS version of sage. The wait circles vary from 5 to 15 seconds and occur nearly every time I start the music module or change anything like the album being viewed. The strange thing is it does not happen for any other module in sage including tv and videos. Any ideas? |

Hey there,
Not sure if it will help, but I noticed a while ago that when viewing music in sagemc, setting the sort order by time rather than album or artist slowed things down dramatically. The interface appeared to re-enumerate the file system each time. I just re-tried this a moment ago and it appears to be instant. Not sure if this is an improvement in the latest SageMC. Mick. |

How many files in your library? I have around 104gb, in 18764 files, and it takes FOREVER to do anything in the music library (and that's after trimming the fat so to speak, dropped a ton of music we never listen to anymore off of the system).

I have around 3800 files or around 20gb of music, I am sorting by album or artist and never by time. It is really frustrating as it does not do it all of the time, but certainly most of the time.

Hi Heffe2001-
Sorry all to hijack a thread. New to sage and working on my client. I noticed in your sig that you have a very similar setup to me for one of your clients (P4 ATI graphics etc). Just set mine up and I can't seem to get my GPU to perform the video playback in hardware. Any time I play a clip my CPU spikes to 100%. Do you have any advice (codecs, ATI setup) on how to get this working? Thanks in advance! Noah |

I'm not sure which I ended up using on that client machine (I'm not using it anymore, my sig is sorely out of date now, lol). If I had to guess, I'd say I was either using Nvidia Purevideo codecs, or Intervideo WinDVD's codecs (I'd have to guess the latter, I think I got better performance with those than Nvidia with the ATI card). I know I at one point was using the Elecard Moonlight decoders with pretty good success.
