Java Missing
I got an update pop-up from the Java app in my Windows 8.1 server, but when I did the update (to JRE 1.8) Sage won't start. All I get is an dialog saying "Java Missing"; Could not get information on current JVM. Please install Java Runtime Environment 1.7 or greater.
The Java app shows 1.8 as being installed, but Sage does not recognize it. This is on a 64-bit system. Does Sage work with 1.8, and if so, is there a trick to get it to do so? |

When you say “64-bit system”, do you mean 64-bit Windows, or 64-bit Sage? Because you can run 32-bit Sage on 64-but Windows.
If you are running 32-bit Sage, you need 32-bit Java. Are you sure you have the right Java installed? Java 1.8 should be fine - that’s what I have.

I'm not sure which platforn of Sage I'm running. I checked the Details tab in Windows Properties, but I did not see an indication. I'm running 64-bit Windows, so the Java website directed me to a 64-bit version, When I clicked on the other versions link it just showed other packages of the 64-bit.
Is the 32-bit version housed somewhere other than on the standard Java links? |

I see both x86 (32 bit) and x64 (64 bit) downloads here:

Thanks, folks. I chased down a direct-download, 32-bit JRE from a Linux PC, so it did not force my hand down a Windows or 64-bit path. I also saw that both versions could coexist, so I installed the 32- along with the 64-.
Looks like all is well ... |

Read through this thread and confirm your Java paths are correct in the registry and jvm.DLL is where the paths point to.
https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65961 Also, 32 or 64 bit SageTV? I assume on 64-bit Windows or ?
