It is possible that using OpenDCT with all SiliconDust devices will be the new norm going forward. I am probably just being an old codger still trying to do things the way I always have in the past and grumbling about how things have changed and it used to be so simple before this new-fangled way of doing things came along, looking out the window and yelling "HEY!, You kids, get off my lawn!"

"old codger"? Yeah, me too. <chuckle>

I agree with the "Keep it simple" tactic.

It may be possible to use MediaPortal for BDA compatiblity. Most if not all of this was already noted in other posts, so nothing really new here.

Scan for channels in the HDHomeRun Setup program using MediaPortal for BDA compatiblity mode.

Then (in SageTV) as part of of the HDHomeRun tuner setup, scan for channels again. Sage should find channels now.

+++++++++++++++++++++

Just for clarification - I already had Sagex64 installed. I was using default for BDA compatiblity mode - HDHR setup would find channels but Sage would not.

------------------------
I installed Sagex86 (32-bit), I did not start the program after installing.
Starte the HDHR setup and SageTV was available. Scanned for channels and closed the HDHR setup program.
Scanned for channels in SageTV as part of the HDHR tuner setup. SageTV found channels.
--------------------------------------------------
I uninstalled SageTV x86 (32-bit version), Deleted the SageTV folder from Program Files (86), Deleted the FRQ files created under SageTV folder in Program Files.
Rebooted the System for good measure.
Started the scanning process all over again,
+++++++++
I treid scanning for channels in the HDHR setup program using "Windows Media Center" for BDA compatiblity. Yada,yada,yada no channels were found in SageTV.
+++++++++
rescanned for channels in HDHR setup program using "Media Portal" in BDA compatiblity mode.
Scanned for channels again pert of the HDHR tuner setup in SageTV and SageTV was able to find channels. I was also able to tune channels.

Hopefully this helps.

If you have not yet installed SageTV x86 then try Media Portal for the BDA compatiblity mode.

FYI - I suspect the scan will need to be done for each tuner, as it is created, under SageTV. When Sage scans the HDHR tuner it creates a .FRQ file based on the tuners ID, in the SageTV folder.

Yippee!! That worked.

After, installing the x86 version, HDHomeRun Setup did, indeed, list SageTV in BDA Compatibility. However, after a HDHR scan, I could not get SageTV to find the channels (I even started the x86 version to no joy.) But, I barged ahead and uninstalled the x86 version and deleted the FRQ files -- which, BTW, were all several years old.. Now, the SageTV BDA option was missing. So I used the Media Portal option to scan for channels. Booted the machine, rescanned in HDHR, and started SageTV (x64). A scan in SageTV found 72 channels and they all worked as expected... even on the Client.

I am currently backing up the whole system so I don't have to start over.

Now comes the big question. What caused this to happen? SageTV was working properly... until it didn't. As near as I can nail down what changed was the HDHomeRun firmware update. Is this something that will happen again when the next update occurs? I would hate to go through all this again.
