Something I've always wondered about - how exactly does the STV Client access data?
Basically, I have three computers.
\\server - My main machine, holds all my downloads. \\server\video - media library imported by SageTV \\sagetv - SageTV server \\bedroom - SageTV client Now, if I watch a media library video on \\bedroom (STV client), does it grab the video directly from \\server, or does it access via \\sagetv? Since I'm using one contiguous network, I'm kinda interested since the latter would utilize twice as much bandwidth as necessary. If SageTV does the latter, is there any possibility of it doing the former here in the near future? IE direct access from a client to a media directory. |

I _think_ that everything is streamed through SageTV to the client -- SageTV would need direct access to files, but the client does not. (One way to double check that would be to make sure your client PC has no network share access to the PC where the media lib is.)
