Sage stopped seeing my tuner
I'm running V9.1.5.683 on Windows7. HDHR3 with a cable card. Everything worked perfectly until mid-December when Sage stopped recording. The logs say that the tuner "stopped producing data while recording." Under system information, it shows that tuner functioning is false.
I've updated the firmware in my HDHR and can tune channels with QuickTV. Sage setup can see the tuners, but can't see anything during the channel scan. I checked my Schedules Direct subscription; everything looks fine. What next? WAF is a big deal here, and it's dropping like a rock... |

What software are you using to let Sage see the HDHR with cable card (OpenDCT, SageDCT, etc.)? It is probably an issue with that software.
Also, depending on how that other software is configured, previews may not work in the channel setup screens (for example SageDCT in ffmpeg mode does not support previewing channels). Also, channel scans are not normally done in Sage with cable card tuners - you do the channel scan from the HDHR web interface, then just enable or disable channels in Sage.

Thanks for the quick reply. I confirmed that SageDCT.exe is running; how should I dig deeper?
Channel scan works in HDHR setup, and it's fine if I need to enable/disable in Sage. |

Okay, I solved the problem--kind of. Bottom line is that I'm back up and running. I'm adding this for the benefit of anyone that comes behind me.
Tiki's reply was helpful and on the money--the problem was with SageDCT. I tried re-installing, configuring/removing Bitdefender/Windows firewall, etc. I could never get SageDCT to discover the tuners. I went back to Tiki's reply and decided to try OpenDCT. Following the instructions here did the trick. I'm now back up and running. No idea why SageDCT decided to stop working mid-December, but it looks like OpenDCT is a better bet for the long run anyway. I've been running sage for 9+ years; here's hoping I can keep it going. |
