Movies won't play more than 5 minutes

Hey guys, just bought a newer tv and now my movies won't play more than 5 minutes. Is this the copy protection and is there a way to get around it? I can play music forever, but no movie will play more than a few minutes. TV Screen goes black and says no signal and then I have to reboot my sage server. I have seen this in the forums before but can't find it. Thanks

not Likely cables. When I insert dvd movies in the drive, they play fine and don't stop. Only ripped movies, which is all my movies is what won't play more than a few minutes...makes me believe it is copy protection. I reconnected my 10 year old lcd tv and it works fine. Just won't work with new tv.

Try playing around with the HDMI settings on the TV, especially for auto selecting which HDMI port to use or HDMI-CEC. Maybe something weird is going on with that. And is this with your PC connected directly to the TV? Is it connected via any intermediate items like an AVR? Are you sure it isn't the PC turning off the screen?

I don't know how a TV knows that it is getting the signal of a ripped movie vs any other video signal especially since ripping them is supposed to strip the DRM. What about recorded TV going through the PC - does it suffer from the same problem? If this is from a PC can you try playing from something else other than SageTV - like VLC or MPC.

Recorded tv suffers the same issue. I have hdmi from sagetv server to home theater receiver then to tv. I have tried to adjust tv and receiver settings to no avail.

When the TV screen goes black do you still hear audio from the receiver? Does the receiver have an OSD that can normally be seen on the TV? After the TV screen goes black can you see the receiver OSD?

Just tried it with zoomplayer and it plays fine. When this problem happens in sage, the pc locks up and needs to be restarted. Tried lav decoder but same problem.

This was caused by dead video card cooling fan. Overheat issue on video card.
