Delete This Recording Options

Sometimes I want to delete a recording (usually because I miss the last few seconds), but would like to have SageTV re-record it the next time it's played.

Which options will make SageTV rerecord the program, if any?

Delete & Set Watched => Pretty sure No
Delete & Clear Watched => ??
Delete & Mark Don't Like => What's the implication of this?
Delete it because it's the wrong recording => ??

I use "Delete it because it's the wrong recording", but I also do not use Intelligent Recording. Not sure if selecting "wrong recording" would have IR implications or not...

Anything that is marked as Watched WON'T get recorded again.

Delete and wrong recording will let sage know that it still needs to record this show again. That is what you want.

Does that apply to manual recordings as well?

No. A manual recording is for a specific timeslot. You'd have to create a new manual recording to catch the show again.

Delete and clear watched also works. It's all we've ever used for that.

I usually just open the recording folder on my server and delete the recording that had a problem, so that it will record again. I generally only do that if the program totally mis-tuned (the USBUIRT sent 559 instead of 59) and so not at all what I wanted to record. If I miss the start or end because something ran over, or there is a weak signal but the show is still watchable in a pinch, I set a manual re-recording (if there is a future airing), or download it via PlayOn. Then I delete the bad one only after the replacement is confirmed good.

Anyone know the difference between "delete and clear watched" and "delete because it's the wrong recording?" If both will rerecord the show I don't understand the difference between them.

I am guessing that "delete and clear watched" will not try to record the show again if it is a favorite whereas the other option will try to record it again.

WNJJ earlier in this thread said that Delete and Clear watched will record it again so I'm still not sure of the difference.

Probably impacts Intelligent Recording in some manner.

"delete and clear watched" keeps the info/weighting for Intelligent Recording

"delete because it's the wrong recording?" probably discards it from the Intelligent Recording info/weighting

Just a guess though. Don't do Intelligent Recording.
If true, then if you don't do Intelligent Recording, it'd probably be the same thing

I don't do intelligent recording but that would make sense. Thanks
