What happens when you delete a recording??
Greetings to all,
I was wondering what happens within SageTV when you delete a recording. I know that the actual physical MPG file gets deleted. But if its a show marked as a Favorite, and you delete an episode, will that episode ever get recorded again? Or is SageTV smart enough NOT to record it again? If SageTV is smart, can I turn that OFF? The reason I'm asking is because I am running short on HD space and I want to delete a few episodes of my show(s) to make space. I just want to make sure that SageTV may record the same episodes again if/when they are re-run. Thoughts? Happy PVR'ing... Richard |

Sage is smart enough to record any shows that meet the rules of your Favorite that you have not watched. If you delete a show that you have not watched, or have marked as watched, as long as your favorite is set to record first runs & reruns, it will attempt to record it again.
So, if you are trying to clear HD space, just make sure that the episodes aren't marked watched, and your favorite is set for reruns. No, you can't turn off the smart feature, you just have to work within it. Sage gives you options so you can mark everything watched or unwatched. You can also go back into your viewing history and mark an episode unwatched if you would like Sage to rerecord a watched episode. |

Thanks for the input, ke6guj! That totally makes sense when you put it that way. And I double-checked my Favorites settings and its set for re-runs as well. So I guess I'm good to go.
