How do you delete encoders?
I replaced my ancient 1st gen HDHomeRun encoder, and the the new one shows up under sources, but so does the old one. How do I delete the old encoder?
I've deleted the video sources that use the old encoder, but the now-non-existent encoder still shows up as a choice when configuring video sources. |

SageTV will not remove mmc entries from the properties file, so that if the encoder is out back in, it will retain its previous configuration. If you want to remove them, then with SageTV and the service shutdown, edit the Sage.properties file and remove the associated mmc/encoders lines for the affected encoder. All the lines with the same number following encoders are for the same encoder. When you restart sage, they should no longer show up in the list.

Thanks, I was looking at the properties file, and had _almost_ tried that.
I'll probably make a copy of my properties file and try it. Having defunct encoder entries show up isn't really hurting anything as long as I can remember which ID number belongs to the old vs. new. |

Did this work for you? I noticed on my system information page that I have several duplicate, unconfigured encoders. I stopped the service and sagetv and deleted the mmc lines that referenced these encoders in the properties file. When I restarted the service and checked the system information page, the unconfigured encoders are still listed. Are there additional lines that need to be deleted in the properties file?

When trying to remove mmc/encoders lines that refer to HdHomerun tuners (network devices), it's also necessary to use HdHomeRun Setup (on the computer running Sage) and Disable those tuners. Otherwise, the HdHr's will re-appear again when Sage is restarted.

I am trying to remove duplicate entries for my Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD. On the systems information page, I see four configured encoders for the WinTV-quadHD and two unconfigured for the WinTV-quadHD. There should only be the four configured tuners.

Chances are you are fine. I don't have one but it sounds like what two HVR-2250 show. 4 Digital tuners and 2 analog tuners. So if that is true there is nothing to delete. The above is what I see when I use 2 2250s on my linux docker.
