Screen Black after commercial Break
Hi, When watching a HD show like "24", many times the screen goes BLACK after a commercial break. Audio continues fine. To fix I usually have to stop, and restart watching. But sometimes I need to do that several times. Sage v7.1.9.256
I've updated the Intel HD Graphics Display adaptor to current using the Intel update application. My video settings: Video Renderer: VMR9 MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter: Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder H.264: Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder VC-1: WMVideo Decoder Media Player for non-MPEG: DirectShow Descaler: Disabled Ideas?

What tuner are you using for watching - an HD-PVR, a HDHR, etc?
It sounds like you are losing sync somehow. One recommendation will be to upgrade to V9, but you have probably already heard that and will have to do that in the next three months anyhow.

Hi Wayner, I use SiliconDust HDHomeRun HDHR-US Tuners.
Oddly this didn't happen until the last two months... not sure why as I can't link it to any particular event... me changing a setting... or something. I do plan on upgrading to v9 probably this week as I've built an Unraid server and already have a test environment of Sage set-up. My concern is that if it is the machine I use to watch TV that V9 may have the same behavior. The computer TV is a Gigabyte Brix J1900 Mini PC. I updated the Bios and drivers last week to current but the problem continues off and on. I searched the forums here and didn't really see anyone else with the same type of issue. I don't know if it is the commskip as part of the issue since it happens with commskip.

What OS is your system on? People have had issues recently with some Windows upgrades - is it possible that Win7 or Win10 got an upgrade that could have caused this?
I have a HDHR tuner as well and I haven't seen this problem, but I do have other occasional issues where there is a halt in the recording for some reason. But for playback I use Windows extenders and my problem is definitely in the capturing of the file rather than playback whereas your issue seems to be with playback.

Have you tried the "EVR" video renderer, or any renderer other than VMR9 yet?

I'm getting a similar problem.
Except my playback is via a Sage V2 Extender. Happens occasionally, not always, but only happens with shows that were recorded from ATSC HD Homeruns. My symptom is a little worse. Screen goes black and no sound. If I hit stop I get back to sage interface, but looks like a crash which is what we thought was happening first. No matter how many times we try can't watch show. Even more interesting is that it seems to not be all my sage extenders or maybe not all my TVs. Haven't been able to isolate what combo and which recordings, but wanted to chime in as it feels potentially related as it also seems like this only started to happen since I upgraded to V9 4/5 weeks ago. Thanks

There was a Win10 KB that broke MPEG2 playback though usually more severely than what you are experiencing. It's since been fixed:

I'm also Win 10, but yeah, Sage 9 and use Extenders for playback so only mildly related environment. The thread regarding mpeg2 playback and Win patch certainly seems interesting.
