black screen

Hi there,

I have just installed SageTV client on my PPC G4 mac mini. All I seem to get is a black screen. no menu, nothing.

When loading, the client finds my PC server fine.

The os is OSX 10.4.11 (fresh'ish install)

Could be that you are using VESA mode instead of graphics mode (i.e. no video driver loaded). What does System Profiler say about your Display?

I had the same problem until I was loading the right driver.

Don't take this as gospel, but I'm pretty sure QE/CI needs to be supported in order to not get the black screen (at least in my case).

Are you running this on an Intel Mac, by any chance?

Mac Mini only has onboard video--no slots for video cards.

I had this problem also with versions 6.3.3 and 6.3.5 of the Mac Server (I also have a PPC Mac Mini with 9200 ATI Radeon)

Version 6.2.10 of the Mac Server ran fine--but it did not recognize my HD Homerun.

I gave up and crossed over to the "dark side" and went with Windows instead.

Maybe when they updated to 6.3 Core Video became a requirement?

TIM

There must be a way of getting it to work!!

I did have it working a while back, but cannot remember what version it was that I was using.

This is really infuriating. I can't even enter my License key now - but that is for another thread!!
