Problem in Moving form HD-PVR to Colossus 2

I've used Sage v7 for many years with the original HD-PVR. Finally decided to move to Colossus 2. I set up Haupphauge's WinTV8 and everything is fine, running a DirectTV STB to Colossus via ViewHD HDMI splitter. Sage recognizes the Sienna capture device, but when I try to add it I get the following error:

"There was a playback error in playback. Details:
sage.PlaybackException: Error (-40x80004005): There
was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback"

I get the same error if I try to go component. I tried changing the video renderer from what I normally use, EVR, to everything else, but no luck.

Any suggestions?

Need to separate out if it is a recording or playback problem, because that is a playback error. Instead of trying to tune it live, do a manual record from it, that way you can try the resulting file in a few different players to see if there is a problem with that, or if it is just a sagetv problem.

My DTV boxes act funny when switching from component to HDMI and vice versa, maybe plug the HDMI into a tv or monitor to make sure there is actually a signal?

There only two possible no codec so need LAV filters install
Under Setup | Detailed Setup | Video / Audio you need to Select Default on all filters or the LAV filters or Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for playback to work.

More then likely this is your problem right here
I do believe the info was add to v9 and being you have v7 so you need manuel add reg info for it see here from this page the hdpvr2_sagetv_fix.zip file.

Also, I've not heard of V9. Is that something that needs to be compiled. Or is it as simple as installing V7? It would be most helpful if someone could post the link to the setup files. Many thanks for the responses.

As jusjoken said see the Windows Installer link also you don't have much time left any way as SageTV build in EPG will be shut down in few more mouth from now so you better Sign up Schedules Direct EPG service that why you need ver 9 of SageTV
  1. Make Copy of SageTV ver 7 folder to a backup new folder some where eles
  2. Uninstall SageTV ver 7
  3. Go back to SageTV folder del everything all left over files
  4. Install Lav Filters
  5. Sign up Schedules Direct EPG service as the Stock Build in EPG Service will be Shutdown 7/1/2017.
  6. Install SageTV ver 9
  7. And yes may need to Select Default or LAV filters, Under Setup | Detailed Setup | Video / Audio you need to Select Default on all filters or the LAV filters or Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder for playback to work.
  8. Setup everything up all your capture device and be sure everything is work before close down.
  9. Copy over just the Wiz.bin not the Sage.Properties to the SageTV folder over writing the old bin file
  10. Start V9 again

The only thing I use lee carry over from the old Sage.Properties is my uptime and delay wait timing because of may HD analog tuner.

LAV filters - location

LAV filters are open-source video decoding filters.
