Alternatives to Colossus 2?

I've got two Colossus 2 that are recording component video. I used to have no problems but lately they've both been randomly failing...saying "stopped producting data while recording". I've tried everything..hwclear, updating drivers, updating windows, etc. and I'm pretty much ready to give up

I was thinking of going with the PVR2 just to rule out any PCI issues, etc. Although obviously its basically the same hardware.

Does anyone know of any alternatives that could record component in SageTV that aren't Colossus/Colossus 2/HDPVR?

Are you unable to use HDMI? Even if you get HDCP errors, you can get around that.

Different PCIe slot would be my other suggestion. If it happens on both I'd try an older driver maybe. I've only had that issue on mine when my boxes were having issues. Wasn't the Colossus.

I could try HDMI but how would I get around HDCP? I have Dish Receivers...I tried it a few years ago and they weren't blocking anything but I haven't tried it since

Look through this thread: https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63177

Short answer. The BM3000 or BM3500 looks promising but are not currently available. There is a similar device by Foxwey that nobody has tried.

I'm currently looking into the exact same issue.

This will strip HDCP.

But then you still need to feed that into something to capture the video.

Right, feed that into the colossus 2 to see if maybe (doubt it) that the component cable or the connection to the colossus 2 is the issue.

More troubleshooting than an alternative to the colossus 2.

I don't have this issue with my colossus 1. Those are still for sale BTW.
