What to buy? Moto 360 2, LG Urbane, or Huawei
I'm looking to buy an Android watch... and those 3 are the contenders... although, it might be between LG and Huawei since the Moto 360 2 isn't sold in Canada
![]() As a hobby Android developer, I'll likely want to start writing apps for watches (maybe a SageTV "notifications" app, who knows)... but I'm really torn between these 3 watches? Anyone have any thoughts and/or hands on experience with either of these choices?

I've got an LG R and I really like it. The price dropped when the Urbane was released, so I picked up a cheap used one.
It depends how much you want to spend and how much you are swayed by the look of the watch. The OS functionality is pretty much the same. Neither have GPS (Which means you can go for a run and leave your phone at home) BTW - The remote app for Android TV works on the watch, so you can pause movies from your wrist ![]()

Some Android watches (Sony smartwatch 3 for example) have GPS built in. Watches without need to use the GPS on your phone to track your movement when running etc

Ok... but you said that NEITHER have a GPS, so you can leave your phone at home... with the lack of a GPS, I think I would NEED my phone, no?

Sorry, I just re-read what I wrote and it was utterly confusing ![]() If the watch has a GPS, you don't need to carry your phone Neither of those watches has GPS, so you'll need to carry your phone

Gotcha.... I'm personally leaning towards the Moto 2 (except that I can't buy it canada, yet). But the Huawei one looks pretty sharp as well.

![]() If the Moto 360 2 was in my area, I'd buy it... but I think I'll end up with the Huawei unless Moto 360 2 becomes available within the next month.

I love my Huawei. It is a classy / professional design that people regularly compliment. You cannot immediately tell that it is a smart watch.
I bought a $10 timex stainless steel band that fit the watch, and I love it. It was amazingly difficult to put on, and I should have taken it to a jeweler. But after I got it on, it works, looks, and feels great. My favorite thing to do is to dictate messages, reminders, and timers. I find that my watch is much better at receiving voice commands than my phone, probably because I can easily bring the watch right up to my mouth. I dictate texts in the car all the time. I also love receiving all my notifications by vibration on my wrist. I wish, though, that the vibration motor was a little stronger. Sometimes in places where I am not completely still, I miss notifications.

Do you realise with the Android TV miniclient, the remote control app and an Android watch - you can use your watch to control SageTV ?

I have the Huawei and the LG G Watch R. I had the GWR, got it for $140 new from AT&T on sale and a client/friend bought me the Huawei because I wouldn't take any money for the network installation I did for him. He knew I was interested in the Huawei but I was reluctant to buy it because it's expensive and I already had the GWR. The Huawei I use as a dress watch and the GWR I wear everyday. The display on Huawei is sharper and crystal clear however it's DIM mode to me is much dimmer than my GWR and I prefer the GWR for that one reason. I'm also more careful with the Huawei because of it's cost. The Huawei also lacks a compass, I don't know if that's important to you. It can be handy camping and hiking so there again I like the GWR better for that.
There is an app in the Play store for controlling your Android TV device and it includes a version for the watch. It works very well. I love using the watches and hate when I don't have one on. Once I got used to it, I miss it when it's gone. So handy to see what's up without dragging the phone out every time it makes a noise. :-) I don't like the flat tire on the Motos although owners say you get used to it. I would have to say I like the GWR best if I had to choose. :-) |

Well that's good, and bad. If she knew which 3 you were looking at, at least you'll end up with one of the 3, and now ya gotta wait. :-)

Somehow, I'm thinking (hoping) it's not the Tag... if it is, then I think I've missed the expectations (once again) on what the christmas budget should be...and she's going to be extremely disappointed on her gift... like the year I bought her a new portable hard-drive (not a joke).
