Expected mem utilization question

When using gemstone with a 300 extender box connected to a windows sagetv server running sageservice, what should the expected mem utilization be? When running 2 300 extenders the process maxes out at 1,022,364K at which point everything grinds to a halt and gemstone UI doesn't function well until I restart the service. That's with my heap up at 1GB.

Previously, Diamond never shot the sageservice process up this high, ever. Begs the question, do I have to tune something in Gemstone, increase heap further, ?

Thanks,
Nate.

I personally run 3 300's without issue and 4 is likely the max but 2 should not cause the heap to be exhausted so something else is wrong.

Going above 1024 on the heap also causes issues in sage so I do not recommend that.

Not sure what to suggest. You can clear the memory from an extender by pressing the delete key on the main menu but that just clears the unused heap.

Not sure what else to suggest.

jusjoken, With your 3 HD300 setup, what gemstone image caching settings do you use?

I've been watching this thread as I recently started using an HD200 and performance with Gemstone has been pretty bad. I finally removed all banners and background. The only images I use now are in my Movie flows. And just posters.

I would love any info on how to "lean down" my setup to get things moving. But I only have ONE HD200. My server is doing a lot of other things besides Sage, but it's never bogged down by anything. Lots of RAM and CPU usage is low.

Never had real speed issues with a PC client.

I have 2xHD300 and about 7xHD200 connected to the system. Once you have about 3 extenders (plus the UI on the server) things can bog down, if you go beyond that it is likely that you will get a crash. I use Fanart on pretty much everything with banners for TV shows and Movie walls for my movie area.
