5 Minute Playback

This is weird!

Did a fresh install (Win 7) and having a playback problem.
After exactly 5 minutes of playback the screen goes back to the main menu.

Turns out it's not just video playback.

If I let the setup screen un-attended, or the program guide on, the same thing happens. Always jumps back to the Main Menu after 5 minutes.

I even tried loading the default Properties file but it didn't make a difference.
This only seems to happen on the server; not the client.
Same results on 2 different servers.
I must be missing something basic; been away for 2 years.

Any ideas?

Do you have some type of wireless mouse/keyboard? There was some issue years ago where something was causing those things to issue the Home command every so often.

Opus4, you da man!
I wasted a lot of time on that before posting.
Thanx a bunch.

So now what; is there any fix for the problem or must I scrap my wireless keyboard/mouse?
That would be a bummer.

I don't remember if there was a solution beyond removing the offending device(s)... you would have to search old posts or maybe someone who had it happen to them could comment...

You could try a different wireless keyboard. Or try remapping the "Home" command to something else.

I've had the same issue for some time now. Fortunately, I was able to connect the behavior to the wireless keyboard/touch pad fairly quickly because it began shortly after adding the new hardware to the system. However, I had assumed the problem was just a quirk with my setup.

My solution is to switch off the keyboard's on/off switch when done using it. This has now become a reflexive action, but it is a sub-optimal solution (though it has probably extended the battery life).

I would love to find out if there is a better way to fix it.

I know I had this issue, but I can't remember what was causing it. I probably tracked it down via EventGhost's logging, though. Even if you aren't using it for your remote, you could try installing EG and hopefully see what commands are happening around the time it occurs.

Thanx for all the help.
For now anyhow, my solution will be to keep the keyboard switched off when not in use.
