Most recordings starting a minute too late
I'm looking for any suggestions on how to attack this problem:
A majority of the shows I'm recording seem to be starting about a minute before Sage starts to record them. I can't say for sure if this is all channels, but at least the majority of them. I'm only recording OTA HD. I guess I could manually change all my recordings to start a minute early (there might even be a way to do this padding "automatically" - I can't remember), but I guess I'd also need to set them all to stop recording a minute early as well so I don't end up with a bunch of conflicts, and I doubt there's a way to do this automatically. Is this the only way for me to attack this, or is there a way to "adjust" the official time across the board. If I could just set the clock ahead 1 minute I wouldn't have to worry about adjusting every show I record. Is there a way to do this? |

Oops, just noticed there's a very similar question posted just a while ago. I'll keep an eye on that one as well, thought I don't think there's exactly a resolution in that thread yet...

If the time is correct on your system & in SageTV, then padding is the best way to go. Not all channels start/stop the shows on time. A somewhat extreme example: I've been recording the old Star Trek series & on both channels airing it, they seem to randomly start & stop anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes early and late. For this Fav, I've got 15 minutes of start padding & 30 minutes stop padding. The Simpsons airs after football, so it has 90 minutes stop padding for a 30 minute show. This works best with multiple tuners, of course.
And, yes, there is a default padding customization in the customizations forum. - Andy

Thanks Andy. Two quick follow-ups:
1) Would it be an option to de-select "sync with server" and then manually change my clock forward one minute on my xp machine? Or would this just get reset at some point when XP auto-updates it's own clock? 2) Do you happen to know if the customization allows "negative padding" so that all recordings could be scheduled to end a minute *early* to prevent potential conflicts? Thanks! |

Unless every channel is off by the same amount, I don't think it works too well to add an offset to the system time.
And, you would have to check the customization for what all it does... I don't use it, I just know it is there. - Andy
