Question Any way to use VNC for video at the server?

I have a system with a WIN7-64 server and two tuners plus two 300 extenders. When I play a recorded or downloaded show at an extender it is fine. But if I watch on the TV directly connected (HDMI) to the server play back is jerky and sometimes the picture is a mess of past pixels slowly catching up.

So I tried playing the same file with VNC and it is perfect. Is there a way for the local server to use VNC rather than the SAGE video engine? Google found a few hits that were no help, and surprisingly nothing shows up on this forum when searching for "VNC."
