Anyone know how to move a play-later recording to replace a regular recorded show?

I had too much going on with my poor server and my recording of Arrow was damaged. I have play-later and downloaded an mp4 from the CW. I deleted the original show (Season 2 Episode 20) and now I want to replace it with what I recorded with Play-Later. Anyone know how to do this? I was searching for this answer for a while, but found nothing.

You should be able to do it via BMT if you use that plugin.

Get to your mp4 file in BMT, Find Metadata (if you need/want it), then there is a checkbox for Sage Recording.

Put a check there and hit Save button. It will now be a Sage Recording.

Thanks Grey Wolf! I've done those steps, and it is still not showing in my all recordings. I've gone through the metadata between episode 19 recorded by Sage and episode 20 recorded by play-later. The funny thing is the fields are slightly rearranged. I figured I must have missed another checkbox, but I've not found it. I even restarted the server, but no joy!

If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them!

Does your All Recordings happen to filter out Archived recordings?
You might want top check the Archived Recordings in case that might be happening.

Another method: If you recall the filename of the Episode 20 that you deleted was, you can rename the mp4 file with the same name and do a refresh, it should connect the mp4 file with the recording info. It will be Archived so you might want to go into your Archived view and unarchive it.

i.e.
if corrupted recording was Arrow-SeeingRed-7828470-0.mpg,

delete from Sage the recording

do Media/Import Scan

copy your play-later file to recording directory, rename it so it will be Arrow-SeeingRed-7828470-0.mp4

do Media/Import Scan

File should now be Sage Recording (once again, may be Archived_

Another method would be using the Sage Web Interface

Media Library => Search Imported Videos

Then Edit Show Info, modify the Airing Info so it matches what was the Sage Recording. Then Update. You will want to look at the new details and then unarchive the recording.

in BMT, for Episode 20, does it say TV or Movie?
That could explain the difference in the fields order.

If it thinks it is a Movie, you might want to Find Metadata on episode 20 again. Make sure Search Type = TV, Source = thetvdb.com

Wow! Thanks for all this information!!!

I will go through and rename and move to the recording directory. It is labeled as TV. I went through all of the meta data fields and compared the play-later recording with episode 19 recording and except for the obvious description meta data, they were almost identical.

If you have to do this again in the future, remember you must first:

delete from Sage the recording

do Media/Import Scan

then do the rename and Media/Import Scan again.


If you just delete the old file then rename, then scan, it doesn't always work.
