No English sound on sports events

I have two hard drives, each having the same version of SageTV loaded. One has a problem with the sound on sporting events (like football). When English is selected, all I get is the background sound at the event but the English speaking announcers cannot be heard. Everything is ok if I select Spanish, but then I don't understand what they say. The other drive seems to have some other problems but the audio is ok. I tried reloading SageTV but that made no difference. I have messed with the audio options in SageTV but without luck. The computer and sound card are the same for both drives and I always boot from the drive I am using. Most programs don't have a second audio program so they work fine.

Any bright ideas?

After a lot of trial and error and research, I finally solved the problem for myself. My solution may not work for people using surround sound.

In Program Files, there is a program called ac3config.exe that controls the performance of the AC3 filter. C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\ac3config.exe. In the upper left hand corner of the Main Tab, the Output Format should be selected as "2/0 - stereo". Note: it does tell you but you will have to restart SageTV.

In SageTV under Settings/Detailed Setup/Video/Audio/MPEG Audio Decoder Filter select AC3Filter.

I now get English commentary for sports events. The Spanish Second Audio Program also works. I suspect that the multiple channels for Surround Sound will not now work but that is not important to me.
