PIN protect recordings

Hi

Is there a way to PIN protect some recordings ? For example I recorded a horror movie and do not want kids to be able to play it , and that recording can only be played if PIN is entered.

You would need to enable parental controls under Setup > Parental Controls.

Your kids will still be able to see the movie but they will need to enter a pin to watch it. If this is a movie your ripped then you'll need to make sure it has a MPAA rating assigned.

Also, they'll still be able to see the description and fan art. Sometimes, even that is too much information for the kids.

Thank you , that looks promising , but my EPG is not complete enough for it to work.

For example , I do not have "MPAA Ratings" , nore "TV Parental Guidelines" populated in my EPG guide, so the parental control does not work.

I need to work out how to populate that MPPA Rating , preferably automatically , else manually.

Are you using the Zap2It EPG service (built in service) or something else?

I didn't notice that; good point.

What about using BMT to automatically download the missing meta data for TV shows? That should get the ratting which would then work with the parental controls for Sage.

Yes, I am using a mixture of sources ( through different xml grabbers ).

I do have BMT installed , could BMT update the "MPAA Ratings" automatically ? I will have a look into it , as I installed it but never really used it.

Yes, I am pretty sure BMT can do automatic meta data scrapping however it isn't a feature I use but I'm sure someone on the forum can give you the steps for enabling it.
