problem with mkv names

I have created some mkvs for Big Bang Theory... despite the fact that they are named The_Big_Bang_Theory_S4E0X.mkv (X is the episode) they are appearing in the UI as "The Big Bang Theory S4 S1" which was the directory name under which they were originally created.

How do you make the correct name show up?

Are you using BMT? If so, it expects the following format:

Code:
${Title} - S${SeasonNumber:java.text.DecimalFormat:00}E${EpisodeNumber:java.text.DecimalFormat:00} - ${EpisodeName}
You can still import without having the episode name, but the season and episode both need to be two digits (S##E##).

These shows are under a directory that BMT is not providing meta data for... (the ' Home Videos' directory). I did that because I do not want to import them as TV shows and I also did not want to put them elsewhere in the import paths because they would appear in my Movies Wall...

SageTV appears by default to display the title from the MKV container itself.

I have just used 'therenamer' to name the shows correctly (works very well) and JMKvpropedit to batch update the MKV container title. That has worked.

Is there an easier recommended way?

Also, for episodes ripped from a Blu-ray there does not appear to be anyway to automatically know which track corresponds to which episode (MakeMKV does not order the output track numbers the same as the episode numbers).
Is there any alternative to manual renaming (after watching)? Is there a program than can read the playlist and do the right thing?

Nice find. I was using the Bulk Rename Utility, but I think yours is better for this purpose. The options on BRU are unreal, though... especially "undo".

I know of no utility which can do that. I always look at an online database for the show I'm ripping and note the length of the episode. MakeMKV shows you the length when you select a track and you can name it accordingly. If there's an easier way anyone else knows of, I'm all ears!

Which online database shows you a table of the track lengths?
I looked at thetvdb.com and it shows the names and episode numbers but not length...

A table would come in very handy...

Just opened up MakeMKV, clicked on the track and it show the source file name (i.e. 00054.mpls ) and duration - but I do not see a way to assign a new name. How do you do that?

< SOLVED> Enable 'Expert' Mode. Now if only I knew which tracks were which to enter the title...

I have found this site is useful for navigating quickly to the TV DBs... but yet to find a table of the episode number, name and duration:

I admit that it's much more work than for movies. IMDB and Wikipedia generally have it once you click on the episode name. It may also be on the disc jacket, especially if you have a box set. You do have to search for this info, unfortunately. Of course, when you're dealing with TV episodes, they can also tend to be very close in running time, so you may very well need to watch them sometimes. In fact, depending on how well you know the show, you may find that to be much quicker than the time you spend searching.

From what I can tell - it is actually quickest to just watch the first 1-2 seconds of the each episode and identify the ripped track (< 10 min).

But that is a sad state of affairs...
