Help! HDPVR error -17 causes Prime error -17
I am looking for some help getting my HDPVR tuner working again. The symptoms are:
Although I can view a channel in Channel Manager via the Source menu, when I try to view through the Program Guide I get an error: "ERROR (-17): the playback request could not be completed due to a network failure" If I then try to view a channel that is assigned to the Prime tuner I get the same error. If I cycle the Service and restart Sage I am then able to view the Prime tuner channels again. I have re-installed the HDPVR software and re-installed Sage several times - first using newer drivers from SHS and finally just reinstalled from my CD. I've upgraded Java to V7.21. I've attached the log files that show viewing a Prime channel successfully, then viewing the HDPVR and then Prime channels unsuccessfully. I removed lots of schedule info in the server log file to get under the upload limit. sagetvclient_1.txt sagetv_1.txt Ignore sagetv_0.txt below; uploaded by mistake and can't remove.

Anyone?
If this is a lame question, please let me know. If I could get the HDPVR working, then I don't think it would hose the HDHR Prime and problem solved The fact that it also hoses the Prime seems significant, but I can't figure out what the commonality might be. Since the OP, I've uninstalled a rogue version of Java 6 and installed Java 7.

Thanks, SHS
How does the network get involved when the HDPVR transmits over USB to the Server and fails when running Sage on the server? No part of the signal path between the cable entering the house and finally falling on my eyes goes through the network. Also, why does the HDPVR tune and play in Source setup but fails in the Guide? I don't have a clue where to look, but I'll check as many of the network settings as I know about.

The Log
I have no idea but if search for word error in log you see there number errors point to Network failed and EPG are like ERROR Updating EPG Source Comcast King County South Digital - Seattle and Error communicating with server. An other Log Error establishing server connection of Connection refused: connect PATCH ERROR Missing Widget This sound you update the weather plug-in Error communicating with server |

Yes, I saw those. I'm not worried about the weather one yet; I saw the EPG when I populated the HDPVR. Only two channels showed up; went out of source setup and back in and there they all were!
I see all of the errors communicating with the server, but have no idea what to do about them either.

SOLVED?
Probably too early to be sure, but I believe the 'Network Error' was due to the fact that I had the 'mmc/encoders/123456975/forced_video_storage_path_prefix=' entry in Sage properties set to a drive that I removed when I moved the internals of my server into a new case. Can't expect Sage to be elegant in reporting an error when applying a hard mod to the properties file. Caveat Emptor and a lame emptor make for a dangerous situation. I can now tune to an HDPVR channel, and then tune to a Prime channel without error. Well, I've done it about four times so far.... So, I am my own worst enemy.... Thanks, SHS for responding. The reason I have it set up to record to a specific drive is that I was having trouble recording the Prime to my NAS, but I had a lot of programs on that drive. To access them, I set it up as a recording drive and then pointed the tuners to the local 'H' drive - except for the HDPVR, which was point to the 'E' drive which I removed. From time to time I'll move recordings from the 'H' drive to the NAS so that I'll have enough space.

Forgot I set that source differently until I read these two lines from the log:
