HD 200 Causes Duplicate Name on Network

I know I have some issues with my WHS besides this issue, but upon trouble shooting the issue I found out that my HD 200 causes a duplicate name (netbios) on my network. It uses the same name as my server.

Upon booting up the hd200 it will load the main screen, I select the servers icon. Where I use to be able to connect to the server by name, I am no longer able to do this, instead the IP address shows up where the name use to.

I can connect to the ip address, but Im thinking this may be part of the problem with the server (getting a new win8 tablet to connect to the server)

Anyone got any idea where to start with this ?

Has your WHS more than one ETH controller? If so, please make sure that the NetBIOS is activated for one controller only and disabled on the others. Basically the main ETH controller must have the NetBIOS setting to "Default" and have the ETH controller priority to the top (and therefore SageTV will use that ETH controller), all the others must have the NetBIOS setting to "Disabled".

Boot the extender into standalone mode and then go to Advanced settings and change the name of the extender. Problem solved. I named my BEDRMHD200.

Changing the hostname to each of your extenders is only necessary when you're enabling, for more than one extender, the SMB client to access Windows shares in standalone mode, if you're always using your extenders connected to a SageTV server, I suggest to disable the SMB client (as it only uses precious memory to run the SMB daemon) and leave the default hostname .
