Duplicate Recordings

How does Sage know when you have already recorded and/or watched a show? Does it base it exclusively on the ShowID, or is it a combo of ShowID and Title?

As far as I know, it is based on the show ID. But, for SH-prefixed IDs (same ID for all airings), there is an option in Detailed Setup -> Customize to have it do additional checks in trying to determine if the show is the same.

OK, the reason I ask is because I made a script that will allow you to list all of the channels that you can receive HD programming on, then based on the list it parses the XMLTV file and if the <HDTV> flag is present and if the channel is in your list, it adds "HD - " to the title.

I am using it to create favorites like "HD - American Idol", but if I have a recording conflict and the show cannot be recorded on the HD encoder, or during one of the HD offerings I wanted it to fall back to an SD encoder/offering.

From what you are saying, I should be able to add a second SD version of the same favorite (E.G. "American Idol") and make it a lower priority recording, then if then if the HD favorite doesn't get recorded the SD will - right?

The only thing I can think of is that I may need to adjust my padding, maybe have the HD favorite start 1 minute earlier than the SD favorite.

Does this sound right?

I'm not certain about that... the favorites based on show titles schedule recordings based on the show title & I believe it is possible to at least sometimes get the same unwatched show recorded twice when it is covered by 2 different favs.

I _think_ the Watched status will still be based only on the ID if you were to change the titles in the XMLTV file... but I don't remember that being discussed before, so I can't guarantee it.
