Couple of Questions

Great work with Gemstone, a pleasure to use and very flexible. Couple of questions;

(1) I'm trying to customise my wall flow to group associated video clips which live in subfolders containing poster.jpg. For example;

sub-folder 'Holiday Australia' contains files thus:

'Holiday Australia part 1 HD'
'Holiday Australia part 2 SD'
'Holiday Australia part 3 SD'
poster.jpg

which I'd like to be grouped under a single 'Holiday Australia' poster on the wall. Ideally, selecting each grouped poster would then lead to a second screen listing the individual videos with details and thumbnails rather than just the posters.

So I was looking at the RegEx Title grouping under Flow Options > View Options and can see the dialogue to enter the regex string but have no idea what to put in there to either use only the subfolder name or exclude the 'part x', achieving the same grouping result.

Incidentally, I gave up naming my files into series as S01E01 etc as BMT can't successfully lookup via tvdb so I don't get the grouping that way.

(2) I have lots of local fanart, with poster.jpg etc in each movie's folder. Again, given BMT is unable to locate any fanart for my custom videos, am I able to switch off Phoenix altogether and simply rely on Gemstone to use the local files? If so, does the caching function apply or is that only for the central fanart folder?

Any guidance much appreciated!

Jonathan

A few questions for your questions first....

(1) I am no RegEx expert nor have I ever used the RegEx grouper so perhaps someone else has and can offer related advice. The grouper is available as it is available from the underlying phoenix core so I made it available for use.

You mention that you no longer use the Season Episode for grouping as BMT does not look them up as these are "home videos" I assume. You can identify folders in BMT as Home Video folders so they get ignored from certain functions (not needed though) so that may work for you and then just manually update your metadata for these videos. If you manually enter a Season and Episode then Gemstone will use that info even if BMT did not retrieve it automagically.

(2) You can use BMT along with local fanart along with Gemstone.... just go into the image options and tell Gemstone to Check Folders First and set the filename to poster.jpg for the poster etc. If a local poster is found Gemstone will use it otherwise it will try the phoenix fanart calls to see if you have centeral fanart available.

And all the fanart caching applies to folder fanart as well as central fanart.

And just because BMT can't lookup fanart for Custom Videos does not mean you can't use the central fanart folders for housing the fanart... just create the folders yourself if you want and place your own posters there.... but it may be easier to maintain them in the video folders... but you do have options.
