Ok, Another Couple of Questions...

Ok, I have done some more research and have some more questions. In my inteded use of SageTV, the Sage program will not have focus in Windows. From what I am reading this requires the use of Girder to send commands to SageTV. Is this correct? I really don'y want to have to spend another $50 to get this set up. My wife is all for this, but if it starts nickle and diming us to death, it will be stopped immediately.

The no focus thing might not affect me since I am planning on using the computer Sage will be running on to do all of the recording and I will use MediaMVPs or Sage Extenders to watch the video on the television.

Also, if I were to get an older computer to act as a server would I be able to purchase the Linux version of the software? It look like right now it is OEM only. I am guessin that means that not just anyone can buy it.

Thanks in advance,
Rob Hix

If all your playback will be done through the MVP, and you're never going to watch TV on the computer doing the recording, then you don't need Girder to run the Sage UI. In fact you don't need to run the Sage UI on that machine at all. Configure Sage to run as a service and it will automatically start when Windows boots up and run invisibly in the background as long as the machine is running. You can do all your administration of Sage from the MVP if you like, or you can bring up the UI on the server when you need to and close it again when you're done. The actual recording and such will all be handled by the background service, whether or not the UI is open.

Anybody can buy the Linux version here:
