So I am using JREkiwi's External Apps to launch Zoomplayer or TMT for BRD menus (using the MCE front end) and leaving MS' decoder in Sage for cable TV recordings. I posted in that thread so, besides that small issue, this is relatively seamless.

As for parts, I am not familiar with the e450 but I am using discarded parts put into a SFF chassis being a Q6600, 4gb of DDR2 (lol), a 5770 and an Asus Xonar card. I have a 7950 I was selling, but the Steam 10 foot beta is working well and I am probably going to swap out the 5770. This hardware spec is working really well with LAV.

One thing to add. J River Media Center exposes their video decoder. I played with this a tiny bit and its not bad in Sage from the limited testing I did. Just another option. I wish I could get J River to handle music inside Sage but cncb's plugin is good enough and JREkiwi's app works to get me into theater view party mode without too much fuss.

My only issue is I have a clunky workaround for switching refresh rates. I have to use girder and a macro recorder as I cannot get catalyst hotkey working as I think it should. Honestly I would just stick it at 60 and be done if it wasn't for 3D and gaming. Otherwise I am done, going to have to use it for a few weeks to know if its perfect but its good so far.
With nvidia hardware LAV worked just fine for me in sage. With my ATI(AMD) hardware it doesn't work inside sagetv. The microsoft and arcsoft decoders work just fine though.

There is an example script (It's a vbs file) included with ReClock that is triggered on any media start/stop/or change. The example script has the instructions inside it, and also is set up already as a refresh rate switcher (just have to point it to whatever you use to change refresh rates - I have always used 12noon display changer. You do have to enable the script execution in the ReClock settings.

I will checkout Reclock Fuzzy, thanks! I assume reclock works well with Sage? I use MadVR on my other Win machines and I installed it on this client and Sage hated it. Just having it installed caused all kinds of problems that was one of my early formats with this box.

Darn AMD. Thanks Panteragstk, that makes sense. I actually switched to Nvidia back when I first started with Sage because it just worked so much better. I had forgotten till you mentioned it. I switched from Nvidia a couple years back and have put so much money into ATI and really regret it. ATI drivers gives so many issues with games, sometimes my video cards might as well be 10 years old.

ReClock is not analagoud to MadVR. MadVR is a video renderer.. ReClock is an Audio Renderer. It alters the playback clock (which is based on audio in DirectShow) to match playback rate exactly to refresh rate. They have, however, over they years added more and more features, allowing it to do much more (like the script thing).

I use madvr with mpc-hc for blu-ray playback and it works wonderfully. Haven't tried it with sage in a while. I just may.

Lav fixed my playback problems for VC-1 files in Sage. It crashes with H.264 though. Now if I could just figure out why I can't get my AMD Radeon 7770 to bitstream HD audio...........spent about 8 hours today with no success.

What kind of audio, what audio decoder are you using, and to what receiver?

If you use LAV make sure everything is set to HDMI-bitstream. Same for ffdshow. Make sure that enable HD audio in sage settings.

I could not get Lav Audio Decoder to bitstream HD audio......PCM was all it would do. I switched to ffdshow and got it to work.
