Split Recording into multiple files

Hi all.
I'm new to SageTV and have been looking around for an answer to this question but i haven't found it. I need SageTV to generate a file every 5 or 10 minutes without stoping the recording process. This is because i need to access the recorded channels in different points from different machines without having to move large files.
Thanks to everyone

1) Are you "new" as in, you just downloaded the trial? Are you aware that SageTV was bought by Google last year? See the "SageTV Software" forum.

2) I don't think this can be done, regardless.

Do you need to be able to access the small files immediately, or could you wait until after the full recording has completed? Are you wanting to access the mini-recordings through a Sage product, or some other way?

If you can wait and you don't need to access the files through Sage, perhaps you could set-up a script to split the file into pieces after Sage finishes recording. There are programs out there that can split an MPEG file without re-encoding it, so it can be done very quickly.
