What Will You Switch To?
The latest EPG glitch got me thinking. The only thing we *know* for sure, is that there will be EPG support, definitely, until 1 Jan 2013.
*If* that is the last day (only 5 months away, folks) what are the 'current' options that you will switch to if Jeff can't 'get'er done' with Google? Looking through all the choices, and seeing messages of 'no longer supported' here and there, I'm a little confused. What works? (US based, Sat, OTA, and QAM, so 3 lineups for me). P |

I will prolly use sluggers newest creation which is an epg plugin...

If sluggers epg plugin does the trick I will also continue on with SageTV...but I am watching Ceton's progress with their upcoming WMC extenders very closely.

I have been using Sluggers licensed plugin ... which also gets episode data from THETVDB.

If Sage stops supporting the EPG I'll definitely make my donation to the cancer society by switching to Slugger's plugin.

I was going to switch - to Ceton probably - before today when I learned about Jeff comments on Google+. The EPG problem notwithstanding which seems to be under control I understand I might hold out just a little bit longer before I leave and if it is only find out what it is.

Jeff stated on Google+ that Google's new initiative (Google Fiber) is using SageTV for the TV, Music, and Photo component. I haven't seen many screenshots (only really cute advertisements) but it doesn't look like STV 7.1...
Too bad no one lives in Kansas (except of course for the 100 people that do)... Jeff also hinted that there could be a non-fiber version in the future. Perhaps SageTV will live again...8 tuners sound pretty cool (Google Fiber does that $120/month).

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17566 I'm still running the stock SageTV Zap2it for EPG for OTA, but I feel better knowing there are working alternatives available. .

Thanks guys, y'all cleared up a lot. I hope there is never a need, but Slugger's looks good. I'm not too confident is MS data either, because I believe they want to kill WMC/MCE but if ShedulesDirect can be used...awesome (don't mind paying).

The code needs a little bit of polish and the wiki needs some updates to describe changes in how to setup use of Schedules Direct for pulling guide data. Once I finish that, I'll release an update. ETA: Sometime after Labour Day (i.e. late Sep/early Oct).
