Trouble Registering TMT5 Codec

I just did a fresh install of W7 (64bit) and I can't seem to get the TMT5 codec reregistered. I have the ASVid.ax and Checkactivate.dll from the previous install that had been working fine. It's in C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\TMT5.
The cmd line I'm typing is: regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\TMT5\ASVid.ax"
But it keeps returning that it fails to load. What am I missing?

Are you running regsvr32.exe from a cmd prompt with administrative privileges, i.e. right click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator? If not, the program will fail to register.

Yes, running as administrator.

Is that the right path? For my TMT install the .ax file is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Theatre 5\Codec" -- not in STV's directory.

Barring a full reinstall of TMT5 it also appears to have a dependency on the Visual C++ 2005 runtime (though it is also installed in TMT's Microsoft.VC80.CRT folder). You might try installing that runtime directly from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=5638. You'll need to try regsvr32 again after install. Failing that, another potential help is to run SysInternals Process Monitor while attempting to regsvr it. Filtering on on the regsvr32 process name might shed some light on one or more dll's that fail to load, etc.

It's the right path for me. I moved the files to my sagetv folder.

It likely was the C++ issue because after running windows update on my new OS install C++ updates were installed, and trying to to register the codec worked right away.

Thanks
