Help troubleshoot my Prime issue

I'm hoping that someone has experienced this and can help me troubleshoot this issue and either fix it or figure out a workaround...

I recently purchased a HDHR Prime to get away from SDTV and using a STB from comcast via s-video to my Nvidia DualTV tuner. Also to remove the dependancies on internal cards so I can move to a virtual server.

My current SageTV setup is on an older WHSv1 box. I've installed SageDCT and activated the cablecard without any issues. I got the tuners added to SageTV, set up the channel lineup information, and have successfully recorded several shows.

The issue I've ran into happened last night and again tonight. When SageTV should have started recording a favorite show, it couldn't tune the channel. From that point, SageTV keeps trying to record and I keep getting the "Halt detected in Recording" error and if I check the recording I just have a black screen saying "No Signal".

At this point, I'm thinking something must be wrong with the tuner so I RDP into the WHS box to check that the tuner is functioning. Bringing up the SiliconDust setup software, I can select the same tuner that isn't working and pull up the channel in VLC or the QuickTV app, showing me that the tuner is working and the channel isn't copy protected.

The next step is to fire up the SageDCT app on the server and check the services, which are still running. The app can still discover the tuner, so I go to the test tab. I select the tuner that isn't working, enter the channel and click on the send button and recieve a "1" in the text below, which I'm assuming means that the application can communicate with the tuner.

The only thing I can do at this point is wait until the time expires for the show. After the recording should be over, I get the error "Recording Missed due to capture device failure". At that point I can go to the guide and click on the same channel, or another tune-able channel and the liveTV starts up using the same tuner that previously didn't work and functions just fine.

So far, this only seems to happen with the normal channels I would get via QAM (FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.). One option I can see is to change my tuner priorities to use my HDHomeRun (original) to a higher priority so QAM channels record with it first, then the Prime if both those tuners are in use. Ideally I would like to figure out what is causing the issue and resolve it though If anyone has any ideas, or something I should enable/test, let me know...

Edit - One more thing I tried was to stop the sage service so it would cancel the recording. Gave it a few minutes to finish processing then restarted the service. Once it came back online, it started trying to record with the same tuner again... and still the "no signal" message.

when this happens, does the prime report that it has tuned the proper channel and is streaming? (IE from the prime's web interface status page)

When I checked last night, the webpage for that specific tuner said it was tuned to the correct channel, but there was no transfer speed listed.

in the log file for the prime was there a corresponding tuning event logged? and did it have a normal result (subscribed)? i only ask because i think a tuned channel with no stream is seen when you try to tune an unsubscribed channel..

Actually, I didn't see a log for that time, but looking at similar logs I see the following for channel 612 (which failed last night)...

CableCard: vchannel 612 (315MHz-612) access = unspecified

I just recieved that log when I tuned the channel via the HDHomerun software.

I don't know that it makes any difference, but the date/time is off on the device and I don't see how to change it. It lists the current time as 19:54 when it is actuall 13:54. So about 6 hours off...

HDHomerun "Halt detected..." error continues

Have you had any success solving this? I'm having the same problem. Some of them do occur on channels I am not subscribed to, but others happen on subscribed channels. The only difference between our setups is I am running Sage on a Win7 machine.

I'm also not having great success watching a channel live. I'm wondering if this has more to do with this configuration using the network to transfer the data from the HDHomerun Prime to the Sage machine.

I will continue to read through other threads but any help is appreciated.

Well, I migrated over from WHS to a Windows 7 virtual machine and have only encountered the issue when the wife tried to record from OWN (Oprah Winfrey... yuck!). Turns out that Comcast has that channel and ComedyCentralHD set to copy-once. I haven't exactly been real motivated to call them and find out why yet
