I have a Bright House cable box (old Scientific Atlanta) hooked up to an HD-PVR and using the HDPVR blaster to change channels. It's worked pretty well for a while, but all of a sudden I'm starting to get recordings that just show the Bright House logo and clock. I am assuming that BH pushed an update to the STB that kicks in a screen saver after a while. I can't find any option to disable this in the STB menus.
My suspicion is that when I get a recording showing the screen saver it's when nothing else has been recorded for a while, and the previous recording was on the same channel. Not 100% sure of that, but it's my gut feel. Is there a way to force Sage to blast a channel change to the STB before every recording, even if on the same channel? Alternatively, any ideas you guys may have as to what's going on would be helpful. Thanks |

On my DishNetwork receiver, the ENTER button also wakes up the box. Because of this, I was able to set the Channel Change Prefix and Confirm codes to be ENTER and I don't have to worry about the box going to sleep.
And do the always tune stated above.

hmm, so I checked and Always Tune Channel is set to Yes. So does this mean I also need to set a channel change prefix? I haven't yet been able to catch my STB "in the act" so I'm not sure if some other button press is required besides just tuning the channel.

If there is a single key that will turn the box on ONLY, then a prefix would do the trick. If you use a USB-UIRT then there is an app that will allow you to record remote button presses (search the boards). I don't know if there is something similar for the HD-PVR's IR blaster.

Problem though is the box is already on, it's just displaying a bright house logo screen saver for some reason.

That is the way that the DishNetwork box is. Pressing ENTER will clear the screen saver. There is a power button that will turn the box "off" (put up the screen saver).

Setup > Setup Video Sources > HD PVR > Tuner Control
You should be able to Learn a new command like "enter" and then set it as a channel change prefix code in the options dialog.
