Hauppauge remote help
I'm having a lot of problems with setup for ir control of sage 7. My first choice is to use the Hauppauge 45 button remote and using it's IR receiver. Then once that is working then move on to a logitech harmony one. My current configuration is Windows 7 64bit, one HVR-1600, one Colossus, and two HD PVR 1212. I need this remote to work either HVR-1600 or colossus. I have read all the “last driver installed” posts without any luck. I also understand that the driver for colossus must be installed first to work properly.
Here is what I have tried: First Ran hcwclear removed the HVR-1600 card uninstalled sage reinstalled the drivers for colossus and the 1212s. reinstalled sage checked out system uninstalled sage installed HVR-1600 card installed HVR-1600 driver installed IR32.exe reinstalled sage and configure for Hauppauge 45 button remote Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a 1212. Next Ran hcwclear removed the HVR-1600 card and both 1212s uninstalled sage reinstalled the drivers for colossus. installed IR32.exe reinstalled sage and configure for Hauppauge 45 button remote checked out system Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a colossus. install one 1212s reinstalled the driver for 1212 install second 1212s reinstalled the driver the second for 1212 installed HVR-1600 card installed HVR-1600 driver Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a 1212. Next Ran hcwclear removed the colossus and both 1212s uninstalled sage reinstalled the drivers for HVR-1600 installed IR32.exe reinstalled sage and configure for Hauppauge 45 button remote checked out system Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a HVR-1600 installed colossus card installed colossus driver Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a HVR-1600 install one 1212s reinstalled the driver for 1212 Results -- Hauppauge 45 button remote works the a 1212. So when ever I add in a 1212 ir32 changes. Doesn't windows reinstall the usb drive once a device is plugged in? I'm trying to avoid buying USB-UIRT ($58) since it will have minimum-- use I use HTTP for tuning. Any advice? Thanks, Mike |

Ok, i'll try to explain this without confusing you.
1) the last device installed is the device whose driver has been modified last. (you can usually do this by manually updating or downgrading whatever device you want o use ir.) 2) the ir32.exe for the hdpvr is different from the one used by the 1600/2250. Download the appropriate one from hauppauge.com. (remember to completely shut down sagetv before starting or stopping ir.exe.) 3) it is highly recommended that you use anything but the hauppauge ir (get a usbuirt, mce, etc.). Trust me I've tried them all. 4) if you insist on using the hauppauge ir, DO NOT use the hdpvr/colossus ir, you will regret it. Try these out they don't cost that much and will make your life so much easier http://tinyurl.com/3nx8qyx http://tinyurl.com/3d2vcww Last edited by wbarber69; 08-21-2011 at 09:49 PM.
