HD300 wont start when no internet
I recently run into a situation where I'm without internet for several days. What that's bad enough, it would appear that my sagetv extender setup is somehow dependent on having an internet connection.
Here's my situation. I turn on the HD300 (which is set to autoconnect) and it just sits at the "Loading Configuration" progress bar. I've let it sit there for over 10 minutes and nothing happens. The only way I can get the HD300 to start up is to unplug the network cable, and then powercycle the HD300. I abort the auto connect, and go into stand alone mode. Then I connect the network cable, go into network settings and force a refresh, and then I go to SageTV server and wait for my server to appear, and then I can connect. The whole process is taking about 10-20 mintues before I can watch sagetv ![]() I'm wondering if anyone else has ever noticed that their HD300 won't auto connect to the server without an internet connect? I realize that most people are unfamiliar with the concept of "no internet" so you've never encountered such a scanario. If you'd like to test, basically, just unplug your cable modem/dsl modem from our main network switch (so that you no longer have internet) and then try starting the HD300 after power cycle. It may be a coincidence that my HD300 started acting up on the exact same day that I lost internet, but i can't confirm that, since I'm still without internet after 4 days... and looks like I'm about to go several more days without it as well ![]()

Sounds like it's relying on the locator service, which of course is a problem if you have no internet access...

I never thought about that... i wonder if it's actually trying to use the locator service... not sure how to test that?? (or how to stop it from using the locator service)

And it's all on the same subnet? The last time I had Internet outage I had no problem watching tv from the hd100, hd200's or the hd300. And I had some plugged into the ethernet ports of the routers and the others into a seperate switch connected to the router. Maybe with the Internet down go back in to reset it to auto-connect to the sage server and save that setting again.

Wipe the client.properties file and the backup for that client and try it again.
