Placeshifter doesnt work over internet, client is an HD300

Hello, i'm trying to connect my HD300 to my Sage Server which is on another country, however when i put the Sage ID and click on connect, the screen goes black and keep that way until i turn it off.

On the server, ports are open and tests are ok...

my question is, do i have to open a port on the HD300 side? maybe the same port? Or it doenst work through internet?

Thanks in advance

Not tried the HD300 yet, but HD100 does work over the internet and the manual says the HD300 will as well..

I just had to forward port 31099 on my router to my SageTV box and create a placeshifter user, as in appendix N of the manual. The manual says the configuration wizard will open and forward the port, but I had to do it manually.

on the server part, i opened the port and test the connection with a successfull result.

I have another server locally, and the HD300 connects to that one, the problem seems to be only when it must go outside the local network.

I have a fixed IP on the hd300, and now i also forwarded the 31099 port just in case, still no luck, seems that there is a missing piece on this puzzle...

Since i have a mac, i cant try the placeshifter through software, but i will try to get a laptop borrowed to check if it connects that way...

Ive a fixed IP on my SageTV server. Have to otherwise I wouldnt know what IP address to forward the port too. But I let the HD300 pick up any address it likes from the network its plugged into. Even if your using the same ISP at both locations the settings required may be slightly differant (differant DNS and gateway for example)

have both fixed ips (server and HD300) and both sides with the port 31099 open, so i honestly dont know what else to do, i will try to use a dns address instead of locator id, after that, then it will be a matter of uninstall and install orb to use it on a computer...

You will probably need to purchase or find a free IP spoofer in order for it to work correctly out of the CONUS. I am currently in eastern Europe in the middle of nowhere and could not get anything to work correctly until I got a IP spoofing service. I used a pay service, it has been great, as soon as I got it set up, connected, logged in suddenly my SageTV worked and also the big hint is try streaming video from somewhere like Adultswim....if they dectect an non US IP address, they currently are not allowed to stream that video. That's how I figured out what the problem was. Most of Europe and Middle East has this problem......

Paid service generally ensures very good speed with little if any interuptions versus the free ones.

can you post exactly what your port forward settings look like? Also are you using a FW. If so you might want to turn it off until you can get it working
