SageMC fanart showing up on Internet-based Placeshifter client.
I just recently switched one of my Internet-based placeshifter client to use sageMC. However, it's currently pulling through the fanart backgrounds for all shows/movies which is slowing down my Internet connection. I would like to keep fanart disabled for this particular placeshifter client; while having fanart enabled for my other LAN-based clients. Could someone please tell me the easiest way to not share this setting for this client? I tried saving this placeshifter client's sageMC settings in a separate sageMC properties file; but, for some reason, the fanart setting is still shared.
Thanks in advance, Michael

SageMC Fanart Options - just disable it from within SageMC.
SageMC Options -> Main -> Global UI Options -> Display -> Fanart Options btl.

Thanks BTL, but I already know how to disable fanart. Unfortunately, the issue I mentioned goes a little deeper than that.

Maybe you should phrase it a little clearer then? Are you talking about multiple computers here, or a laptop that travels around with you?
The settings are based on the MAC address of the NIC that you are using - look in the clients folder of your server and you'll see properties files with MAC addresses in them. Your best bet, if this is what you are doing (which I'm just guessing since your OP isn't that clear) is to add a second NIC and use it when you are off the LAN. Can't promise that will work, but it might.....

I'm trying to figure out how to phrase it without repeating what I mentioned in the first post... One client is an Internet-based Placeshifter client and the other clients are at home. If I turn off fanart on the Internet based client, it turns off fanart for the clients at home; and, when turning on fanart on any of my clients at home, turns on fanart for the Internet-based placeshifter client. If there's a shared setting, I just wanted to know how to make it not shared, if possible. Thanks again.

Does it turn it off on the HD200 as well?

You are out of luck then - that setting is getting pulled from the Sage.properties file of the server, and all extenders / place-shifters are going to inherit it.
btl.

i thought those settings were client settings, not server settings.... try deleting the offending lines in sage.properties... and see if theyre recreated in the client .properties files... bc iirc i have different fanart settings on my server and hd200...

Thanks so much razrsharpe and btl. Hopefully, I can find the setting and move it to the client properties file. That seems to work for many other settings. Now... to find the offending settings...

I have the same issue. I have a HD100 and a MVP. I would like the MVP to not have fanart (for speed issues) and the HD100 to have fanart but it seems that setting is centrally located so if you set it for one it sets it for the others. If anyone comes up with a solution that would be great.

razrsharpe,
When developing one of my STVi's I noticed that many, if not all, properties are shared between placeshifters and extenders even though SetProperty() is used and not SetServerProperty(). So what ends up happening is all of the placeshifters and extenders share all of the same properties while SageClients (or the Sage UI running on the server itself) do not, except in the case where the STV uses SetServerProperty(). If you like I can email you my Dynamic Property Editor and you can see what I am talking about. Tom

It works
Good news. I moved the below phoenix fanart settings from Sage.properties to SageClient.properties and respective clients\mac-address.properties files; turning fanart OFF for my placeshifter client and ON for the rest. This works great for the clients I have tried so far. The only client I haven't tested this on the HD-200 since I'm still at work. I'm guessing the HD-200 wont be any different than other clients that successfully use these settings under clients/mac-address.properties. I'm using the latest sageMC STV for all clients.

Excellent!! So did you remove those properties for sage.properties or just keep them in there as well?

I took them out. I thought there's a chance the sage.properties settings may interfere with client-based settings.
