Question HD-PVR won't record from STB

I am trying to add a second HD-PVR to my setup that's been working great for a couple of years. I have been using an Explorer 3250HD STB from the cable company with no problems.

I seem to have a problem recording though from the new Cisco branded Explorer 4642HDC that I picked up from the same cable company. I can't get any signal to record using this source. Nothing at all. I've forced it to 720p just like my 3250.

I have ruled out the HD-PVR as the culprit because I've swapped the inputs, and the problem follows the source. Anyone have a clue what might be going on? I'm using the component + RCA input on the HD-PVR for both sources.

Make sure you're plugged into the input jacks on the HD-PVR and not the output jacks. Easy mistake to make. Did the drivers install for the second HD-PVR and does it look OK in Device Manager?

Everything's plugged in correctly. As I mentioned I can swap the input source and record just fine. It just seems to be the signal from the Explorer 4642 that's the problem.

I just tested recording off the 4642's composite output and that worked fine. It's just the component output that the HD-PVR doesn't seem to like for some reason.

What resolution is it set to? Have you tried changing it to 720p or 1080i?

Tried both 720p and 1080i, and no luck with either one. Composite input works, but that doesn't really do me much good.

Have you tried hooking that box up to a TV? Maybe the output's busted? Or disabled?
