How to record?
I know this sounds really stupid but... I am watching live TV and I hit record and nothing is ever recorded... what am I missing here? (I am hitting record after I click on the show in the TV guide type menu...)

Have you setup any Video Directories in the General tab of the Detailed Setup?

Yes I made it C:\Sage...
The folder is empty. I watched my overall HDD space and it didn't move during recording. |

What are you using as your tuner/encoder card?

After reading his post here:
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...10&postcount=1 It appears he is running an ATI TV Wonder Pro which I don't think is a supported tuner. |

Yeah, I saw that too, so that is where I was heading, but I wanted to verify what was being used. If that is the software encoding card in use to whatever extent, it won't record to disk.
PCGUY112887: For supported hardware encoders, see the SageTV System Requirements. (Maybe I should add that to my sig too lately... ) - Andy

Humm well I thought since I could view TV fine I would be able to record fine...
Maybe you guys could support it in the future? Seems to be a popular card for people that don't have $100 for a TV tuner... Last edited by PCGUY112887; 12-28-2004 at 08:22 PM. |

SageTV only records via hardware encoder cards, which do all the work of putting the video into an MPEG2 file. I'm not entirely certain what is going on with software tuner cards, but however they are being utilized by SageTV, using a software encoder to save the video stream to the hard drive is not one of the things happening. It seems to be live playback only, for those (like you) who have it working at all.

How hard would it be to support recording of a software decoded signal like some other programs?
You program is the best aside from not recording from software decoded signals |
